Walk me through the process of writing and recording Princess Forever. I’d say Princess Forever is more thought-out and cohesive than any project I’ve put out. ![]() I was able to record in an actual studio, lock in hella hard with The Celestials and other producers, artists, and instrumentalists. There were definitely some songs on the album that were written during the “Sensitive” era that I saved. Was that change in sound and style a conscious choice? Still, it felt like there was an interconnectedness between the two projects. Listening to Princess Forever, I was surprised to hear how different it sounded from the bedroom pop sound of The Leo Sun Sets EP and the Goodnight Dreamer LP. Subtly woven throughout the tracks is the outer space-set story of the album’s namesake narrator, charting a journey similar to Isioma’s own evolution over the past few years.įollowing the release of Princess Forever and in between the first few stops of their headlining LOVE & RAGE tour, Isioma sat down with HYPEBEAST to talk about the process behind putting together the album. Princess Forever, the latest sonic offering from Isioma, was conceptualized by the artist post-transition and sees them continue to build on the array of genres in their arsenal – dipping into rock, funk, R&B and Afrobeats while delving even deeper into themes of love, self-worth and community. Then, the Nigerian-American singer-songwriter released their debut album, last year’s Goodnight Dreamer, a genre-spanning account of probing one’s own identity - from embracing gender fluidity to grappling with the existential crises typical of a twenty-something. First, there was the declarative and alternative 2020 EP, The Leo Sun Sets. ![]()

![]() ![]() From escorting political ambassadors to heading into the unknown as part of a shore team, commanding a ship from the Captain’s chair to fiddling with the engines of an actual Federation Starship, there’s enough here to let you live out more or less any Star Trek fantasy you want to – within limits. Starfleet in Resurgence seems to have a rigorous recruitment drive that requires everyone to wear the same size uniform with zero exceptions.īut as I said, die hard Star Trek fans will see past these imperfections and enjoy the ride. The models themselves are also far too uniform, and regardless of species every body shape is the same and only the head and hands appear alien, giving the impression that everyone is just wearing Halloween costumes. Dead-eyed stares, out-of-place expressions, weird pauses between lines of dialogue, and an overall woodenness to the animations compound to take you out of the moment time and time again. It just doesn’t look very good, strongly resembling something like Mass Effect: Andromeda where character models are concerned. Where Star Trek: Resurgence really struggles, though, is in the visual department. Warp bubbles and tricorders and dialithium crystals may not mean much to the layman, but Trekkies will feel comfortably at home. Environments, particularly on the ship, are faithfully created, and all the technical jargon flows like a waterfall. It’s a shame, because the setting, characters, writing and events are a Star Trek fan’s dream. ![]() ![]() Stealth in particular feels weird and awkward, and if you only had to deal with it once or twice I’d ignore it, but it becomes fairly frequent later on. But as soon as it attempts to cut this with action-oriented gameplay the limitations of the engine simply can’t be ignored. Star Trek: Resurgence is at its absolute best when you’re living out your Star Trek common fantasies, making split-second decisions on the Bridge or when out investigating alien worlds, solving problems that only you can solve. You also can’t invert the controller axis, which really irritated me when I was called to fire a phaser or pilot a ship, or even sneak around in some of the clunky stealth sections. You’ll often be asked to solve engineering issues as DIaz, for example, which are often so simple as to become a little tedious after a while. Oddly, I much preferred the character stuff to the gameplay sections. From stiff upper-lipped Science Officers to enthusiastic fangirls, or from old friends joining the crew to a stuffy Vulcan Engineering Chief, there are plenty of faces to get to know and plenty of decisions to make. A dangerous anomaly early on allows you to find your feet where the narrative is concerned, setting out your stall early doors in terms of who you’re likely to get on with better. As both you’ll need to make decisions that impact how the supporting cast view you and, subsequently, treat you. It’s a narrative juxtaposition that mostly works, although Diaz often comes across as the slightly bumbling well-meaning sidekick to Rydek’s hyper-competent, no-nonsense leader. As the latter, you’re attempting to fill the shoes of your popular and highly thought-of predecessor. As a result, tensions are high as Starfleet prepares to return the Resolute to active service despite the concerns of her crew. As the former you’ve been part of the crew of the U.S.S Resolute for a while, having been around six months before when an warp drive experiment almost obliterated the ship, and killed 20 crew members including the previous First Officer. You split your time between two protagonists: lowly engineer Carter Diaz and decorated First Officer Jara Rydek. It’s a narrative adventure in the vein of a Telltale series, with the focus on moral and choices, critical decisions, and heaps of quick-time event minigames. Yes, I know: sterling insight as always – but I struggle to imagine non-fans of Roddenberry’s universe getting past certain barriers to truly enjoy the experience. While it might seem obvious to say this, Star Trek: Resurgence is really one for the Trekkies out there. ![]() ![]() You’ll also have to go through an incredible number of regulations, prescriptions and permissions that I can barely describe without writing an essay. What is the hardest part of bike component production in Asia?įancy joining the business? You’ll need a lot of money right away because you’ll have to pay the entire sum before any goods are shipped. Therefore, I’d advise you to design your original mould for frame production and use open moulds for the rest. Nevertheless, this is not the case with frame production because frames are what people like to compare in details. Since all components look the same, nobody will realise that you’re using an open mould as do dozens of your competitors. After selecting the preferred model, you just label the products with your company’s name and that’s it. In thick catalogues, you are about to find hundreds of components of different quality, made from different carbon types with different weight parameters, colours, etc. Regarding components, I can genuinely recommend choosing from the open moulds. At that stage, you can add some six more months before you receive your own bike, which makes the entire process about a year and a half. At that moment, the investment made is roughly 70,000 US dollars. Then there is a separate mould for the rear triangle that fits all sizes. You’ll need at least four sizes of each model (S, M, L, XL), which multiplies the number of moulds you’ll have to design. With aluminium frames, it’s quite simple but the costs will grow if you decide to produce carbon-fibre frames. As soon as you give the green light, the production is ready to begin. ![]() The next step comprises building a prototype from aluminium that is sent to you to undergo a thorough test. Designing an original mould from scratch will take up to five months. Big companies like Astro Engineering, A-Pro, Giant or Merida offer you their engineers when you make a contract to build the mould in their facilities. First of all, you’ll need to hire a frame designer. The second option is designing your frame, which is both more difficult and more expensive. The production depends on the manufacturer’s given minimum you’ve committed to take. The average price is approximately 400 dollars for an aluminium full-suspension frame and 700 dollars for a carbon full-suspension frame including the paint job. You select the model, send them your graphics, logos, the colour finish and within six months, you have your own brand. The easier way is to use an open mould that is available to anyone who negotiates the collaboration with the Asian partner. How long does it take to put hands on the actual prototype of “my” bike from the moment I decide to run my own company? The disadvantage is that you’ll have exactly the same bikes as anyone else who would place the same order, the only difference being the brand name. The advantage is that you do not have to pay for tooling. Open mould is a frame anyone can buy and put their name on it. We decided to order the open-mould models Enduro 29er (aluminium frame) and Trail Bike 27,5 (carbon frame) and called the resulting brand BEAST. They build bikes for companies such as Mondraker, Transition, Haibike, CTM, and many more. The other agreement we made on the show was on using open moulds for frame building with Astro engineering, which is one of the biggest bike manufacturers in the world. We agreed on testing the first 50-wheel set. We instantly knew that this had been something we were looking for. This solution not only makes the wheel stiffer but also looking like it landed here from the Back to the Future movie. A visit to the Eurobike fair trade revealed that we were late with the idea. I’ve started Bee Biker three years ago with my partner Jan Havelka with the intention to build light bikes for kids. Starting with the Eurobike trade show is fine but if you want your business to grow bigger, you’ll need to leave for Asia trade shows like Taipei International Cycle Show and Taichung Bicycle Week. The most fruitful way is to speak with them face to face. This is the most difficult part of the job. How can I find a trustful partner in Asia? When the slides were transferred from the standard 11:13 L-D regime to continuous light, eggs were discharged 5 min after the end of the light phase and peaked 5–l5 min later on first day after transfer, indicating that the female gametes “remember” the light-dark regime. The course of egg discharge could be disturbed by light, with irradiance as low as 5–6 μmol photon m −2 s −1 causing 75–80% of the discharged eggs to detach from the oogonia and consequently to die within several hours.
